When interior designers Ivy and Cynthia Almario were approached by Cathay Land to conceptualize and implement the interiors of the Mediterranean-inspired Alicante Villa model unit, they immediately visualized how the unit would look like.
"We worked and lived in California for 13-15 years before we settled back here in the Philippines, so the Spanish architecture and interiors of the houses we’ve visited there served as our inspiration," Cynthia narrated.
Since the Alicante unit comes with a high ceiling, the double volume space allowed the sisters to design a unique trompl’oeil beneath the stairs. The trompl’oeil, a neat row of flowering plants below the stairs and beside the spacious living area, permits a very lighthearted atmosphere within the house
